Full Production Description:

This adaptation of Barbara Ehrenreich’s investigative memoir required modular scenery to reflect multiple low-wage workplaces. The set used recycled and repurposed materials to evoke diners, motel rooms, and cleaning supply closets with minimal shifts.

  • - Built rolling flats, hanging steel flats, and layered signage with found objects

    - Utilized foam board, pegboard, and industrial laminate finishes

    - Painted floors with weathered grime and faux-tile effects

    - Collaborated with lighting for site-based tonal shifts

    - Chalk-lined full-scale ground plans for proscenium

  • - Explored class-based storytelling through material culture

    - Integrated real-world research into aesthetic choices

    - Practiced fast turnaround of design-to-build with a limited crew
