Let’s be honest: I’ve done a lot in my life, especially in theatre. It might be overwhelming (it seriously overwhelms me putting all of it together!), but it’s gonna make sense. Pinky promise. And, to make it easy to see what you want now, I’ve made some handy-dandy links for you below.

All of my experiences through education and life have made me the stage director I am today.

If you want the full Fool’s Journey, scroll and enjoy.

Handy-Dandy Portfolio Links:

Long before directing, I was writing.

I've always been drawn to stories that wrestle with difficult questions—grief, trauma, identity, relationships, justice, humanity, and hope. Whether I’m writing a novel, a play, or developing a production concept, storytelling has always been the way I process the world.

Writing isn't separate from directing for me. It informs how I analyze scripts, develop characters, shape dramatic structure, and communicate a vision.

In short: I’m long-winded, expressive, hum and/or sing a lot when I’m thinking, and am prone to intuitive, tear-jerking motivational speeches almost every rehearsal. Oh, and I’ve written some stuff too:

THE PLAYS

Genre: Psychological Comedy-Drama | Length: 10 minutes | Cast: 2M

Synopsis: “Will you do anything for money?” That’s what the ad said. A sharp, dialogue-driven two-hander that plays with audience assumptions and actor vulnerability, The Ad invites its viewers to laugh, squirm, and question everything up to the final blackout.

Genre: Magical Realism / Family Drama | Length: 10 minutes | Cast: 2F, 1M (flexible puppet or actor for Buddy)

Synopsis: In the snow-covered stillness of an Alaskan winter, six-year-old Carrie Ann meets Buddy—a talking caribou who becomes her best friend, tea party guest, and keeper of childhood secrets. Carrie Ann and Buddy is a magical-realist exploration of grief, friendship, and the fragile space where fantasy protects us from what we’re not yet ready to face.

Genre: Intimate Thriller | Length: 10 minutes | Cast: 1F, 1M

Synopsis: In a luxe bridal suite moments before her walk down the aisle, a bride is visited by a man from her past, dressed in white, full of regret, and very much uninvited. Vows is a lyrical, intimate two-hander about power, sacrifice, and the echoes of choices you never really got to make.

NEW VERSION COMING SOON

Genre: Romantic Dramedy (One-Act in 3 Scenes) | Length: 10-15 minutes | Cast: 1F, 1M

Synopsis: Abby and Henry meet at a chaotic speed-dating event—two awkward souls armed with more baggage than flirtation. What starts as a reluctant conversation turns into a quiet ritual across holidays and seasons, where shared notebooks, bad coffee, and tiny acts of kindness begin to rewrite their lives. The Journalers is a soft-spoken romantic dramedy about healing after heartbreak, the power of paper, and the unexpected ways we find our people.

FICTION

PSST: Some of these have been published under the pseudonym ‘Alexia Jackson’ due to spicy content. One interesting phone call from a student’s parent, asking if I had written a book about BDSM and aliens they found on Amazon, was enough for me…

RESEARCH & LONG-FORM ESSAYS

One of the strongest skills I have, because I’ve been developing it since I was a child, is my ability to be a collaborative artist while utilizing consent-based and trauma-aware strategies, aka intimacy choreography and direction.

At Adams State and throughout my years as a high school theatre director, I couldn't specialize.

I became the costume designer, scenic designer, producer, marketer, technical director, stage manager, educator, fundraiser, administrator, and director because the work demanded it.

Now, I don't need to wear every hat.

But having worn them makes me a stronger collaborator.

I understand what every department needs because I've lived those jobs myself. That experience allows me to communicate across disciplines, anticipate challenges, and lead productions with respect for everyone's craft.

Intimacy direction isn't an additional specialty.

It's part of my directing philosophy.

I believe that artists create their best work when they feel psychologically safe, respected, and empowered to collaborate. Consent-based practices, trauma-informed pedagogy, and clear communication aren't separate services—they're embedded into the rehearsal process and strengthen every production, whether intimacy is present or not.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED FROM LIFE

I don't wait for ideal circumstances.

Growing up in a family that built businesses - specifically Bernie’s Cakes and Catering, Weirdo Willie’s smoke supply shop, a door-to-door Avon stint, a Georgia-based law firm called Hooper & Honore, and that one time my mom and I sewed thirty bags for the 2004 Women’s Cycling team - taught me to solve problems rather than be stopped by them.

Limited budgets.

Limited time.

Limited staff.

Unexpected obstacles.

Those are creative challenges, not roadblocks.

If there is a story worth telling, I'll find a way to tell it.

Teaching has always been part of who I am.

Long before it became my profession, I helped classmates understand the material because I genuinely wanted others to succeed.

Raised by generations of Black women educators, I learned that teaching isn't about having answers—it's about helping others discover their own potential.

Whether directing university students, mentoring young artists, leading workshops, or rehearsing professionals, my goal is the same:

Leave people more capable and more confident than when they arrived.
